Oris Watch Company Supports Wings of Hope with Special Edition
Oris Announces Limited Version of Vintage Inspired Big Crown Pilot Watch for Volunteer Medical Corps
Lonstanding Swiss watch company Oris announced a limited edition partnership in support of Wings of Hope at this year’s AirVenture 2022, offering a variation of the firm’s Big Crown Pilot announced for sale to further the group’s volunteer medical mission.
The watches will be available in 2 variants: The first will be a larger 1,000-piece run of 40mm stainless steel automatics, with the second a 38mm, 100 piece Wings of Hope Gold Limited Edition. Both watches use Oris’ Caliber 401, a 28,800-beat, antimagnetic, 120-hour reserve automatic movement, cased in steel/gold with sapphire and superluminova. Oris even takes the luxury watch norm a bit further by pushing its service intervals out to an impressive 10 years while backing it up with a warranty just as long (provided, of course, that the owner registers with Oris). The more ‘entry’ of the limited editions carries an MSRP of about $3,700, while its golden brother tips the monetary scales at a slightly heavier $17,000 USD. The editions are made under the Oris “Change for the Better” umbrella, a series of programs and projects that look to marry classic horology with volunteerism and service.
Wings of Hope uses aviation to support remote and vulnerable communities in more than 50 countries, serving more than 65,000 people with their programs and services. To provide their services, Wings relies on a small, devoted corps of supporters about 350 strong, funded by donations for fuel and mission requirements. The organization has 11 field bases, where 86 cents of every dollar given goes directly into funding their programs. The new Big Pilot is available now.
