Award given by National Committee for Employer Support of the
Guard and Reserve
Samuel W. Bucy, Deputy
Federal Security Director for the Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) at Huntsville-Madison County Airport in
Huntsville (AL) has been recognized by the National Committee for
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The ESGR
sponsors a nationwide awards program that recognizes employers for
policies and practices that support employee participation in
military reserves units. Bucy’s name was put forth by
one of his screeners, Keith Terry.
Bucy was presented the "Patriot Award" by Lt. Col. Jose R.
Atencio, III, Commander of the 441st Explosive Ordnance Battalion,
during a ceremony last Saturday at the National Guard Building in
Huntsville.
"TSA is very proud of the work Samuel Bucy has done to support
our troops and the work he does every day for TSA," said Rear Adm.
David M. Stone, USN (Ret.), Assistant Secretary of Homeland
Security for TSA.
"TSA employees serve on
the front lines on the war against terrorism by providing the
highest level of airport security here at home, and sometimes they
serve on other front lines as soldiers in the National Guard or the
Reserves," Stone said. "Our support for our employees is
unparalleled when they leave TSA to fulfill their duty to the Armed
Forces and when they return to TSA."
Prior to joining TSA, Bucy was a manager for the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) with security responsibilities for
civil aviation airports in Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky and
Alabama. He also has served as a Federal Air Marshal and a
field coordinator for the FAA’s K-9 explosive detection
program. Bucy is a veteran of Army Military Intelligence with
assignments in the 18th Airborne Corps, Ft. Bragg (NC) and with the
2nd Infantry Division, stationed in the Republic of South
Korea. He is a graduate of Auburn University.
