Order Book Growing For CSeries Airplanes

Latest Announcements Include Two Customers Who Asked To Remain Unidentified

Bombardier Aerospace announced Wednesday that an existing customer, which has requested to remain unidentified at this time, has placed an additional conditional order for seven firm CS300 airliners as well as purchase rights for six additional CS300 aircraft.

In a separate announcement, the planemaker said an African airline and existing Bombardier customer, who also wishes to remain unidentified at this time, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to acquire five CSeries airliners.

Based on the list price of the aircraft, the firm order for the seven CSeries aircraft would be valued at approximately $553 million, while the order from the African airline would be valued at approximately $365 million.

"The CSeries airliner, with its best in-class economics, advanced technology and outstanding performance, will be instrumental in replacing older, less efficient aircraft presenting challenges because of high fuel costs and heightened environmental awareness," said Ray Jones, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Asset Management, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft of the seven-plane deal.

"Our (African) customer faces challenging operational environments and needs excellent range for hot-and-high performance as they expand into new and growing markets," said Mike Arcamone, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. "The exceptional fuel efficiency and widebody passenger comfort that only the CSeries aircraft can provide in an airplane of its size were key factors in our customer's decision to select the CSeries in a region where fuel prices are quite high."

Jones said the company is "very optimistic about the current status of our order book, which stands at 513 orders and commitments. We are well on our way to reach our target for 300 firm orders by entry-into-service, and have already achieved our 20 customer goal."
