Rockwell Collins Shuffles Government Systems Executives

Forms "Communications Products" Division

Responding to what it says are changing conditions in the defense market, Rockwell Collins has announced a series of leadership moves and organizational changes it says will better position the company to deliver the advanced solutions and products that its government customers will require in the future.

"We are making these adjustments to align our focus with the needs of the customers we serve," said Kelly Ortberg, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Government Systems at Rockwell Collins. "These changes emphasize our commitment to providing our customers the superior value products and solutions that they need now and in the future to meet their demanding mission requirements."

Bruce King has been named vice president and general manager of the newly formed Communication Products business. In this new position, King will be responsible for the company's broad defense communication product lines, including the satellite communications product lines added when Rockwell Collins acquired DataPath in 2009. King was previously vice president and general manager of Surface Solutions.

Alan Caslavka, formerly vice president and general manager of C3I Solutions, assumes the role of vice president and general manager of Surface Solutions. Caslavka will be responsible for the company's programs serving ground vehicle, soldier and maritime customers, along with the electronic warfare and signals intelligence product lines.

Bob Haag has been named vice president and general manager of Precision Strike and Navigation Products. Haag is responsible for the company's navigation products portfolio, precision guided weapons programs and solutions for unmanned aerial systems, tactical fighter, attack and bomber aircraft. Haag was previously senior director of Soldier Solutions.

Ron Hornish has been named vice president of Performance Excellence. In his new position, Hornish will lead Rockwell Collins' efforts to address the Department of Defense's emphasis on acquisition performance and efforts to improve efficiency. In this role, Hornish will oversee Government Systems' continuing push for efficiency improvements through Rockwell Collins Lean Electronics initiatives. Hornish was previously vice president and general manager of Precision Strike Solutions.

Dave Nieuwsma, vice president and general manager of Mobility and Rotary Wing Solutions, and Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager of Simulation & Training Solutions, continue in their current roles and are unaffected by the changes.
