Anyone who is even slightly interested in building their own airplane is aware that thousands of homebuilt airplanes have been built by people who were not experts in airplane building or things mechanical. Even though it is well proven it can be done, it might still be hard to take the first step to start an airplane project. Now, CubCrafters has come out with a way to get you started.
ANN’s News Editor, Tom Patton, checked in with CubCrafters’ Director of Global Marketing, John Whitish, while at Sun ‘n Fun 2016 to get some details about their new Starter Program.
The CarbonCub EX-2 Discovery Kit is designed to give the builder an idea of what it’s like to actually go through the process required to fabric cover the airplane. He said the Discovery Kit allows a person to learn how it’s done on a real part of the airplane that can become a component on the finished aircraft. The kit is composed of a CarbonCub EX-2 rudder with all materials and instructions needed to complete the fabric covering process, except for the final finishing paint.
Whitish tells Tom the program has been widely accepted, and as he talks about the process and the costs, the video does a great job of letting you see what the carbon cub looks like prior to the fabric covering.
