AeroSports Update: Cumulus Soaring, Inc. Customers Chip In

Cumulus Soaring, Inc. Has Made Lots Of Friends, And When Paul Remde Asked For Help, Good Friends And Good Business Paid Off

A couple of months ago we reported that Paul Remde, the owner of Cumulus Soaring, Inc. posted the following message on his website: “I love my job. I enjoy supporting the soaring community and helping soaring pilots. I am very thankful for all the soaring friends I have made and the trust placed in me by soaring pilots from around the world. But I have come to a crossroads in my life and business and I need your help to be able to continue. I want to continue to support the gliding community for many more years.”

Remde came up with a possible business solution he called Mutual Support Memberships. The Mutual Support Memberships were offered at various costs to provide different levels services. Remde Said, “I call them "mutual" because I need your support (buying a membership), and I offer you my support in the form of discounts and free technical support. The cost of membership is relatively low to make it appealing to a wide variety of soaring pilots.”

In a report received last week Remde wrote: “I am extremely happy to announce that the recent pledge drive has been a success! Thank you to everyone that pledged their support! I have been overwhelmed by the very kind words of support received and the 278 pledges received so far. The goal has not been reached yet, but I have received enough pledges to continue on with my business for at least 10 to 20 more years. I can't express how thankful and humbled I am for the support of the soaring community!!! As I have always known - there are a large number of very supportive and generous glider pilots. Thank you so very much! I will continue to work hard to earn your kind support.”

Aviation is full of entrepreneurs that are in the business because they love it. Such is the case with Paul Remde. He is renowned for his support of the sport of soaring and his willingness to provide services far beyond his business model. It looks like his customers recognize this and through a combination of good business and satisfied customers the soaring community keeps a friend and his business going.
