Victims' Families Sue Over Corporate Air Mishap

Three Families Go To Court In Texas

A trio of families has gone to court in Dallas, TX, suing American Airlines, its parent company, AMR Corp., and affiliate Corporate Airlines in the aftermath of an October 2004 mishap in which 13 people died.

As ANN reported last year, the Corporate Airlines (American Connection) Jetstream 32 went down on approach to Kirksville Regional Airport in Missouri. While the weather was marginal, with thunderstorms and mist in the area, there was no indication from the cockpit of any trouble prior to the accident.

The families of crash victims Matthew Johnson and Dr. Richard Sarkin, along with crash survivor Wendy Bonham, allege the Kirksville crash was the latest in a series of mishaps caused by lapses in judgement among cockpit crew members.

None of the defendants would comment on the suit.
