Three Golden Knights Involved In Training Accident

Team Was Conducting A Night Freefall

Three members of the U.S. Army's Golden Knights parachute demonstration team were seriously injured early Tuesday during a "night operations" free fall in South Florida.

The U.S. Army Recruiting Command said in a statement that the team members were were injured during a training accident at Homestead Air Reserve Base in Homestead, Florida, around 4 a.m. Feb. 12.

The soldiers were participating in a routine night training operation. They were transferred to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.

The incident is under investigation at this time.

No other details of the accident have been released. As of Wednesday, two of the soldiers were listed in critical condition at the hospital, while one was listed in serious condition, according to Kelli Brand, director of public affairs with U.S. Army Recruiting Command.

The Golden Knights are based at Fort Bragg, NC, but conduct winter training at Homestead Air Reserve Base.
