Airborne-Flight Training 08.12.20: MSFlightSim, New Liberty Degrees, FAA Scandal

Also: Eastern Michigan University, Vermont CAP Wing, Navy’s 1st Black Female TacAir Pilot, 737 MAX 8 FlightSim

Pipistrel has hit the big-time, as one of the aviation world's most iconic products is featuring the Virus SW 121.

In partnership with Microsoft, the Pipistrel Virus SW 121 is one of the PREMIUM aircraft available in their new, long-awaited, Microsoft Flight Simulator Program, which is scheduled for release on August 18. Described as a 'highly accurate' model of the Pipistrel Virus SW 121, this will be one of the planes available to fly in the Premium Deluxe Edition. Liberty University School of Aeronautics (LUSOA) has added two degrees to its growing academic offerings — a Master of Science (M.S.) in Aeronautics and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aviation Management. Both programs will be offered beginning this fall and are available through Liberty University Online Programs. Dr. Julie Speakes, online dean, said the new M.S. program offers four specializations: safety, education, leadership, and a general track. The FAA has confirmed that severe issues of an unspecified nature are causing them to force as many as several hundred pilots to be retested for checkrides they may have taken over the course of some 11 years. The FAA states, "This notice provides current guidance to FAA aviation safety inspectors (ASI) on program policies and procedures for reexamining individuals holding pilot certificates with various ratings who were tested by Michael A. Puehler of Cincinnati, Ohio. The reexamination will ensure that these individuals meet the standards of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 61 to hold their certificates and/or ratings." All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
