FAA To Conduct GPS Interference Testing In The Southern U.S.

Tests To Be Centered At Fort Walton Beach, FL

The FAA has scheduled GPS testing through mid-December that may result in unreliable or unavailable GPS signals.

The testing will be centered on Fort Walton Beach, FL at 303251N/0863.904W, or the CEW VORTAC 178-degree radial at 17NM.

Testing will take place on the following dates and times:

2 Dec 17 0400Z - 1000Z 1300Z - 1900Z
4 – 6 Dec 17 0400Z - 1000Z 1300Z - 1900Z
8 – 15 Dec 17 0400Z - 1000Z 1300Z - 1900Z

Each event may last the entire requested period.

NAV GPS (Including WAAS, GBAS, and ADS-B) MAY NOT BE available within a 348NM radius centered at 303251N0863904W (CEW 178017):

  • FL400-unlimited.
  • 307NM RADIUS AT FL250
  • 250NM RADIUS AT 10000FT
  • 211NM RADIUS AT 4000FT AGL
  • 186NM RADIUS AT 50FT AGL

Pilots are encouraged to report anomalies only when ATC assistance is required. The NOTAMs discussed in this advisory may change with little or no notice. Pilots are advised to check NOTAMs frequently for possible changes prior to operations in the area. NOTAMs will be published at least 24 hours in advance of any GPS tests.
