FAA Approves Construction Of New Rams Stadium In Los Angeles

Height Concerns Resolved Relative To Possible Radar Interference Issues

The FAA has approved construction of a new stadium in Los Angeles, CA that will be the home of the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers NFL franchises.

The NFL reports on its website that the agency cleared the $2.6 billion stadium, under construction in Inglewood, CA, following an agreement with the Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke.

Under the terms of the agreement, Kroenke will install a secondary aircraft tracking system at the stadium at a cost of about $29 million. The system will augment the existing ATC Radar system at KLAX. In a statement, the FAA said "As a result of the agreement, the FAA is able to issue a determination that the stadium will not pose a hazard to navigable airspace or affect the flow of aircraft into LAX."

Still under review is the height of the construction cranes that will be necessary to construct the stadium. It is expected to host its first games with the Rams and the Chargers in 2019.
