DART Aerospace Granted TCCA STC for Bell 505 External Cargo Basket

Letting It All Hang Out

DART Aerospace has been granted a new Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) STC certification for its external cargo Heli-Utility-Basket specifically tailored for Bell’s popular 505 Jet Ranger X (JRX) helicopter model. FAA evaluation of the system remains ongoing.

Prosaically dubbed the Bell 505 Heli-Utility-Basket, the unit is the latest in DART’s proven line of rescue and utility baskets. The new Bell 505-optimized model joins DART's existing series of Heli-Utility-Baskets for helicopter models such as Airbus’s H125, Bell’s 407, Robinson’s R66, and Agusta Westland’s AW119.

DART business unit manager for parts and accessories Michaël Desjardins-Séguin stated: “DART is excited to further support the popular Bell 505 by launching a Heli-Utility-Basket that allows operators to expand their mission profile. DART is well positioned to bring this first Bell 505 basket to market with our proven record of efficient design, development, and certification capabilities.”

Quickly and easily installed, DART’s Bell 505 Heli-Utility-Basket allows operators of the eminently capable machine to safely carry skis, cargo hooks, tools, equipment, and a variety of additional, mission-critical items externally. Developed for the utility and VIP markets, DART’s Heli-Utility-Basket is constructed of corrosion-resistant stainless steel coated with a high-gloss, scratch-resistant white finish. Operational safety is enhanced by virtue of a simple self-locking handle by which cargo is secured during flight, and lid closure is assured. A gas spring eases opening and closing of the aforementioned lid.

Featuring an impressive line-up of over 1,500 STC's and five-thousand products, Montreal-based DART Aerospace offers a comprehensive portfolio of aftermarket products, aeronautical accessories, spare parts, and services for civil and military operators, all major rotorcraft OEMs, completion centers, and MRO facilities.

DART's principal products include: aerial firefighting systems, emergency flotation systems, landing gear components, tools and ground support equipment, interior and exterior accessories, cargo expansion, windows and doors, cable cutters, engine and drive systems, and external load equipment.
