Bargaining Time... Air Inuit Pilots File Notice to Open Contract Negotiations

Pilots Looking To Address Three Major Items During Contract Negotiations

Air Inuit pilots, represented by ALPA, served notice to Air Inuit management recently of its intention to open contract negotiations for the pilot group’s new collective agreement.

“Two weeks ago, over 92 percent of our members voted in favour of joining ALPA,” said Capt. François Lavoie, Air Inuit ALPA interim Chair. “Our pilot group and Negotiating Committee knew that joining the world’s largest pilots union was the only way to negotiate our new contract.”

Air Inuit pilots are looking to address three major items during contract negotiations: wages/compensation, job security/career progression, and quality of life.

“It is crucial for management to understand that without drastic improvements in crucial areas, there is no reason for an Air Inuit pilot to stay at our airline, when better opportunities may exist elsewhere,” said Lavoie.

For more than 40 years, Air Inuit pilots have demonstrated their unrivalled expertise and commitment operating in the harshest conditions, on gravel airstrips through snow and ice, and are proud of their airline’s safety and maintenance record.
