Stolen Helicopter Parts Recovered In Canada

Parts Valued At Nearly $400,000 Discovered In A Private Home

The RCMP says that most of the helicopter parts that were stolen from Alpine Helicopters in West Kelowna in British Columbia in Canada earlier this month have been discovered in a private home, but an arrest still has not been made.

The Castanet News reports that no one was home when a search warrant was executed at the residence last week, but that most of the parts, valued at $397,000, were recovered. The 31 parts in various boxes had been stolen from Alpine Helicopters December 6th.

Alpine CFO Jill Seaton said at the time that the parts could not be sold on the open market because helicopter parts are serialized and must have traceable lineage. She said "the parts would be quickly noticed during any repairs and reported."

A Honeywell Power Turbine Governor and a Qualcomm satellite phone area still missing, the RCMP said.

Police are also still searching for the thieves.
