Airborne 09.28.20: Panthera Flt Test, Arsenal of Democracy, ZeroAvia Pax Flt

Also: NASA Polishes Image, Drone Airspace Access, All-Electric Ecomax Heli, 1st Brazilian Gripen

One of the efforts ANN and Jim Campbell are best known for, are our flight test reports. However; the amount of work required to keep ANN on the straight and level hasn’t allowed us to do any for a while. Further; we’ve been aggressively pursuing a new plan for how to conduct them in terms of the many media options currently available. Well... for now, the highly detailed and long-awaited flight test report on the Pipistrel Panthera is now online with parts 1 and 2, so far, of the massive 8000 word 6-part report. The rest of the report will be unveiled in  portions every few days. Shortly thereafter; we will also produce a video report once we have finalized our video test criteria. What a crushing disappointment... Due to weather conditions, the aircraft participating in the Arsenal o

Power, Pulchritude and Performance: Flight Testing the Pipistrel Panthera-Part 2

By Jim Campbell, ANN CEO/Editor-n-Chief/Test Pilot (Arrogant, Over-Opinionated Know-It-All/Test Dummy)

ANN E-I-C Note: OK… sorry for the delay with Part Two, but it’s been a tough week at the Campbell Family Ranch (death in the family), while the workload at ANN has seen no diminishment, whatsoever… especially with BIG changes right around the corner… like, in a few days. Part Two gets into airplane descriptions and systems with a vengeance… with more to follow before we light the candle on this thing and launch into the stratosphere… which is kinda what a Panthera takeoff felt like.

Airborne-Flight Training 09.23.20: DA20 Upgrades, CAE Financing, EMU Partnership

Also: Sterling Flight Training, National Aviation Academy, Young Eagles Workshops, ERAU Suspensions

One of our favorite training birds is back... and upgraded, to boot! The high demand for single engine training aircraft has led to the return to production of the Diamond DA20-C1, powered by a 125HP Continental IO-240 engine and equipped with new state-of-the-art G500TXi Avionics. With over 1,000 DA20’s already operating worldwide, the strong desire for lower cost new single engine aircraft in training environments continues. The DA20 is proven to be the safest and most efficient aircraft for primary training, and fleet operators are raving about its return to production. A new program could have a significant impact on your access to flight training... CAE has launched a new financing initiative for aspiring pilots in collaboration with financial institutions around the world. With this init

The SportPlane Resource Guide RETURNS!!!!

Emphasis On Growing The Future of Aviation Through Concentration on 'AFFORDABLE FLYERS'

It's been a number of years since the Latest Edition of Jim Campbell's HUGE SportPlane Resource Guide first saw the light of day. That massive 1100 page book last featured over 800 exciting sport aircraft from all over the SportPlane universe... at a time when the SportPlane industry was still a healthy, thriving enterprise (those were the days...). While there has been some consideration, off and on, toward updating the nearly 5 pound book, the near implosion of the SportPlane and kit industry over the last decade has made such a pursuit an unwieldy one... until now.

ANN's Daily Aero-Linx (09.29.20)

Aero Linx: Danish Ultralight Flying Association Welcome to Danish Ultralight Flying Association! In Denmark ultralight flying started in the early 80`es. Today there are about 240 ultralight aircraft organized by the Danish Ultralight Flying Association. Membership of both the association and a UL-club is compulsory to fly Ultralight. The association has approximately 600 members dispersed in 25 local UL-clubs. In Denmark obtaining an Ultralight license requires the same theoretical education and examination of the pilot as a license for a sportsplane. After min. 15 hours practice with an instructor in a two-seater and min. 5 hours solo-flying, the pilot may be ready for the final test that leads to the UL-Certificate. After the certificate has been obtained and after min. 25 hours of solo practice, the pilot can submit to an examination that qualifies the pilot to bring along one passenger.
