CAE and Piper to Develop Electric Powered Iteration of Iconic Aircraft

CAE will partner with Piper Aircraft Inc. to develop an electric-powered variant of Piper’s Archer (PA-28-181) light, utility-aircraft. The conversion of the iconic airplane from its legacy, single-internal-combustion-engine configuration to electric power will be via a kit for which CAE and Piper intend to obtain Supplemental Type Certification (STC).

Sonex Aircraft is accepting deposits for its SubSonex JSX-2T, a two-place, home-built, personal jet. The JSX-2T is intended, in part, to serve as a trainer for pilots seeking to transition into Sonex’s single-seat SubSonex JSX-2—upon which the new airplane is based. On June 24, 2022, about 0903 mountain daylight time, a Cessna 152, N934JH, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident in Mendon, Utah. The flight instructor and pilot receiving instruction sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight.
