Swoop Airline Entry Into U.S. Market Delayed

Canadian Carrier Cancels Flights For Lack Or Regulatory Approvals

Canadian low-budget airline Swoop has run into a snag in its attempt to penetrate the U.S. market.

The carrier had planned to begin flights between Canada and various destinations in the U.S. October 11th, but that has been delayed because regulatory approvals are taking longer than expected, according to a report from CBC News. The airline has cancelled 24 flights to the United States.

Swoop Spokesperson Karen said in an email to CBC News that Swoop "apologize(s) to our travellers affected by the cancellations for the inconvenience and for their disappointment. We are focused on doing what is right and are working directly with those affected travellers to provide options including rebooking on an alternate flight or providing full refunds and compensation."

All Swoop flights to the U.S. have been postponed until at least October 27.

When the routes are available, Swoop plans to fly between Canada and Las Vegas, Phoenix, AZ and several destinations in Florida.
