P&WC Launches SMART Offerings For Mature Helicopter Engines

Company Says Program Is In Direct Response To Operator Feedback

Pratt & Whitney Canada has launched a new suite of maintenance solutions for operators of helicopter engines. Introduced under the P&WCSMART banner, these “turboshaft dependable solutions” have been developed in direct response to customer demand.

“We have long believed in the power of listening to our customers,” says John Di Bert, Vice President, Customer Service, P&WC, “and this is an example of the company responding to the various in -field challenges that operators face. We believe there are more opportunities to develop specialized maintenance solutions and we are encouraging an active dialog with operators.”

The P&WCSMART turboshaft dependable solutions include:
A refresh program for PT6T-3 and T400 engines through which operators can exchange their core engine for a new PT6T-3B Twin-Pac, power section or gear box and receive a substantial discount.
A discount on a factory-new or freshly overhauled engine exchange upon installation of an approved Inlet Barrier Filter on PW206 / PW207 powered helicopters.
A flat-rate overhaul for PT6B-36A/B engines which power the Sikorsky S-76B helicopter.
Capped costs for overhaul and hot section inspection on PT6B-37A engines.
A discount on FAST solution, P&WC’s latest engine performance monitoring solution, when purchased for an AgustaWestland AW139.

“We know that an operator’s choice of aircraft is influenced by its powerplant,” says Di Bert. “We developed our P&WCSMART turboshaft dependable solutions to provide cost-effective ways of allowing our operators to continue to fly with our engines and remain part of the P&WC community.”

While P&WC has been in the turboshaft business for four decades, there has been a 300% increase in turboshaft engine deliveries in the past 10 years alone. P&WC has certified 33 turboshaft models powering some 25 applications. With 13,000 engines produced, the P&WC turboshaft fleet has accumulated more than 47 million flying hours.
