PS Engineering Introduces PMA7000H Audio Panel For Light Helos

Sports Nine-Place Intercom, IntelliVOX Squelch Control

PS Engineering has developed an audio panel the company says is uniquely qualified for use in light helicopters. The PMA7000H was developed for the Bell 429, but is available for a wide variety of additional applications.

Representatives with PS Engineering tell ANN the PMA7000H includes a nine-place intercom, with crew PTT intercom capability, CVR outputs, and fail-safe priority audio path.

"We listened to the specific customer requirements, added our insight, and the result is the PMA7000H," said PS Engineering founder Mark Scheuer. "Our ability to deliver a cost-effective solution for specific audio requirement puts us ahead of the competition."

The PMA7000H (similar PMA7000B model shown above) has the signature features of PS Engineering products, such as IntelliVOX, cellular telephone interoperability, multiple independent in-flight entertainment inputs, and dual transmit split audio capability. IntelliVOX is a patented squelch protocol developed by PS Engineering that eliminates manual intercom squelch, adjusting dynamically to cockpit sound conditions.

IntelliVOX has been installed in hundreds of helicopters since 1998. By eliminating the manual squelch control, IntelliVOX makes the audio panel more ergonomically friendly for the helicopter cockpit, and allows the passengers and crew to communication seamlessly.

In addition, the Bell version will have Cockpit Voice Recorder output, and crew intercom push-to-talk capability. This ICS-PTT capability is allows the crew to tailor their internal communications depending on the mission phase, choosing a fully automatic IntelliVOX® mode, or push to communication mode.

To reduce LRU count, simplify installation and add reliability, PS Engineering added three more passenger intercom stations inside the PMA7000H, for a total of nine places (2 crew plus 7 passengers), thus eliminating the need for expansion units and associated wiring.

List price for the PMA7000H is $2,295. PS Engineering expects deliveries to begin this month.
