Officers Responding To Truck Incident Wind Up At An Airplane Accident

Plane Flipped Over While Trying To Take Off From An Icy Lake

Fish and Game officers in New Hampshire went to investigate a report of a truck that had broken through ice on Lake Winnipesaukee, when they suddenly had a second accident to deal with.

The driver of the truck was trying to remove a "bob house" ... a fishing shack on the ice ... when it broke through. While on the scene, the airplane attempted to take off from the lake's icy surface, and flipped over on its back.

The Union Leader newspaper reports that the two people on board the airplane were trapped inside. "Bystanders assisted in lifting the tail of the plane, while Conservation Officers used their expandable batons to break the glass of the cockpit and extricate both passenger and pilot,” Fish and Game said in a news release.

The pilot suffered minor injuries, and the passenger was unhurt, according to the release. They were a husband and wife who had flown to New Hampshire from New Jersey, according to the officers.

The plane was left where it was pending investigations by the FAA and NTSB.
