The Bristell TDO Provides Utility And Back-Country Operation Capabilities
Bristell has introduced a new aircraft to their line-up at the Sebring U.S. Sport Aviation Expo. Called the Bristell TDO, which stands for “Tail Dragger Option”, this aircraft gives owners the utility of a back-country aircraft with greater speed and useful load than traditional back-country LSA flyers are accustomed to.
Bristell Aircraft’s Lou Mancuso said “If you ever wanted to take that trip out west but thought it would take too long in a Cub, we’ve got the plane for you”. The Bristell TDO’s has a wide cabin, exceptional range, and a 645 pounds useful load. It allows two people with their gear and full fuel to travel at more than 120 knots. Prop clearance is excellent with optional 26-inch tundra tires, and with three quarter length flaps, the Bristell can land at speeds as low as 34 knots.
One unique feature of the Bristell TDO is the “Sleeper Sleeve” option. It was developed for the Australian market where pitching a tent in the company of some of the world’s most poisonous snakes and spiders isn’t an option. Bristell’s solution is to sleep in the aircraft cockpit. They developed a system of lowering the seats, covering the baggage area, and exposing the rear fuselage. This provides a completely flat area that is available for sleep. The optional Sleeper Sleeve adds more utility and demonstrates how much Bristell listens to their customer’s feedback.
Bristell Aircraft are designed specifically for the American Aviator, and backed by one of the longest standard warranty in its class.
