Companies Partner To Offer High-Resolution Forecasts For UAS/Drone Operators

CustomWeather Announces Partnership With TruWeather Solutions, Testing Commences With NUAIR Alliance

CustomWeather, a specialized provider of high-resolution weather data and alert services, has entered into a partnership with TruWeather Solutions, LLC to produce unique, high resolution forecasts to support UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System). Also known as drones, UAS require close attention to weather conditions, particularly wind, temperature, and severe weather for mission planning and execution.

For those UAV operators in need of high resolution data, a proprietary model offered by TruWeather Solutions’ with terrain-capturing resolutions at 1,000 meters is complemented by CustomWeather’s own proprietary CW100 model to provide solutions at even more granular 100 meter resolution. Higher resolution data is most needed in locations that feature varying terrain or where operators need the most precise data available. Forecasts are provided for any altitude. Variables include wind speed, wind direction, wind gusts, temperature, visibility (surface), precipitation, cloud cover between the surface and 500 meters, and mean sea level pressure (MSLP).

The TruWeather Solutions and CustomWeather forecasts will be deployed over the next few months in the state of New York, in conjunction with New York's NUAIR Alliance. The NUAIR Alliance has been set up to study UAS. Their research will help ensure safe UAS integration into the National Airspace System.
