Textron Sells 20 Skyhawks To Longhao Flight School

Will Use For Primary Flight Training In Southwest And Central China

Sichuan Longhao Flight Training Co., Limited, or Longhao Flight Training School, signed a purchase agreement for 20 Cessna Skyhawk piston aircraft, to be delivered throughout 2022.

The school will use them for primary flight training in southwest and central China, as they expand their training scale to meet the immense need for domestic pilots. Licensed pilot numbers have consistently increased since the General Office of the State Council announced efforts to accelerate the training and development of pilots.

This order will expand Longhao's current fleet of Cessna's, including 14 Skyhawks and a single Citation M2. “With a long-standing relationship with Longhao, this order demonstrates its support and confidence in Textron Aviation and our products,” said Mike Shih, vice president of Sales and Strategy in China, Textron Aviation. “We are pleased to be part of the efforts in China to cultivate new generations of pilots and promote the common development of aviation under the current 14th Five-Year Plan. Flight schools in the region continue to leverage the unique strengths and capabilities of the Cessna Skyhawk to support the needs of pilots in China.

One of many passages in the newest Five Year Plan, set for 2021-2035 specifically targets small aviation as a method of increasing domestic transportation between cities and villages alongside further development of general airports, cargo terminals, and general aviation facilities. The forecasts for light aircraft have been positive for the Chinese market, although clouds appear on the horizon as the government increasingly focuses on building up its manufacturing base.

Started in 2017, Longhao’s training school has been expanding quickly, establishing 6 locations with a number of simulators, aircraft, and facilities. Under the umbrella of the Longhao Aviation group, it is able to leverage economies of scale and personnel advancement through its schools, cargo airlines, and short-haul passenger lines. Future purchases are likely, as outlooks for growth in nearly all areas of the aviation industry should see rapid expansion.
