Embraer, Boeing To Use ARTEX/Skytrac ELT Combo
ACR Electronics is proud of their recent contracts with two of the three largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, in which they supply their new ARTEX brand ELT 5000 (DT) with enhanced crash survivability.
Their ELT is increasingly popular, as companies seek compliance with ICAO’s 2023 Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) initiative. SKYTRAC, another company under the ACR Group umbrella with Artex, offers their Autonomous Distress Tracking System (ADT) with the ELT 5000 for an all-in-one, turnkey solution. Boeing and Embraer have both selected ACR’s joint product for full end-to-end GADSS.
??John Nguyen, President of ACR Electronics, said: “The two contracts secured by ACR Electronics in 2021 to supply the ARTEX ELT 5000 (DT) to the world’s major aircraft manufacturers are a powerful endorsement for our multi-faceted distress tracking ELT program. It demonstrates the high confidence in the industry that the development of the next generation ELT 5000 (DT) will future-proof aircraft with a state-of-the-art emergency distress signaling and tracking solution. The ability to create a compliant system by combining the ELT-DT and ADT technology of sister brands ARTEX and SKYTRAC means the ACR Group is the only company with a full end-to-end GADSS solution for airframe manufacturers and airline operators.”
When presented with any of the automated triggers of a potential distress condition, the Skytrac/Artex ELT combo begins transmitting 406 MHz distress messages containing the real time, precise location while in-flight. When active, the monitoring satellite network assists rescue organizations in finding the aircraft, a tremendous improvement over previous ELT search and rescue capabilities. ICAO’s new GADSS recommendations are in the process of being adopted into regulation by governing bodies throughout the world. Key concepts of the initiative include reducing notification delays after distress signals are activated, identifying the terminus of aircraft flight paths, and assisting with timely recovery of flight data by accurately reporting the aircraft’s final position.
