JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Bird Strike

E190 Hit Two Geese Just After Takeoff From Westchester County Airport

A JetBlue Embraer E190 had to return to Westchester County Airport in New York after it hit two geese just after takeoff Tuesday evening on a flight that was to have gone to Florida.

The pilot of Flight 571 declared an emergency and returned to the airport to land after the geese hit the airplane's windshield, making it nearly impossible for the pilots to see. USA Today relays a report from CBS News that quotes a passenger saying that the airplane "kept swerving from left to right" as the plane made its approach.

Jeremy Nielson, an operations manager at KHPN, said that there was damage to the airplane, which prompted the emergency call. There were no injuries to anyone on board the aircraft.
