Embraer Delivers Its 300th E-Jet To Northwest

Will Be Operated By Compass Airlines

In a ceremony held at Embraer's headquarters in São José dos Campos, Brazil on Wednesday, the planemaker delivered its 300th E-Jet -- an Embraer 175 -- to Northwest Airlines.

"The delivery of the 300th E-Jet is a great achievement for Embraer and we are honored that Northwest Airlines is receiving this airplane," said Mauro Kern, Embraer’s Executive Vice President, Airline Market. "The four pillars that supported the launch of the E-Jets program back in 1999 – natural growth of the 50-seat regional jet markets, replacement of old and inefficient jets, development of new markets at low cost, and right-sizing low load factor narrow body flights – are still in place and will be the drivers of future fleet decisions of many airlines."

One year ago, Northwest Airlines placed a firm order for 36 E-175s to be operated by its regional subsidiary Compass Airlines, under the Northwest Airlink brand name. The aircraft are configured in a dual-class layout with 76 seats -- 12 first-class and 64 coach. This is the fifth E-Jet incorporated to the airline’s fleet, since the first Embraer 175 was delivered last July.

"The Embraer 175 jets offer our customers best-in-class features and cabin comfort," said Neal Cohen, Northwest Airlines Executive Vice President – Strategy, International and Chief Executive Officer – Regional Airlines. "The technology, efficiency and extended range of our dual-class Embraer 175s provide us with the flexibility necessary to maximize operations."

"We are pleased to receive this milestone aircraft, adding it to our highly reliable fleet of Embraer 175s," commented John Bendoraitis, President of Compass Airlines. "Our team is committed to providing the highest level of service and dependability to our customers."

Embraer delivered the first E-Jet in March 2004. Northwest Airlines will be the first operator of the Embraer 175 AR version -- an extendedrange variant scheduled to be incorporated in 2008, which will open the way for the airline to serve additional markets.

As of September 30, 2007, the Embraer 170/190 family of E-Jets had logged 712 firm orders and 756 options, totaling 1,468 aircraft.
