Gulfstream To Expand Long Beach Site, Add Jobs

Additional Maintenance Hangar Expected To Create 50 Positions At California Site

Gulfstream Aerospace will expand its site at Long Beach Airport in California, creating at least 50 jobs in its Product Support organization.

Gulfstream Long Beach, home to an aircraft service center, a completions facility and a sales and design center, will grow with the opening of a 19,000-square-foot maintenance hangar and nearly 10,000 sf of accompanying support and office space.

“We expect the facility to be operational in mid- to late summer,” said Becky Johnson, vice president and general manager, Gulfstream Long Beach. “The additional jobs and added capacity are fantastic news for this community and our customers.”

Long Beach’s new hangar can accommodate up to three Gulfstream large-cabin aircraft. The accompanying ramp space holds up to 10 aircraft.

The Long Beach facility anchors Gulfstream’s U.S. West Coast operations. The site encompasses nearly 370,000 sf and has approximately 900 employees. In 2014, Long Beach technicians serviced more than 1,000 aircraft at the facility or on road trips to nearby general aviation airports, including Van Nuys, one of the busiest in the U.S.

Gulfstream acquired the Long Beach site in 1986 and, with its approximately 100-person workforce, initially served as a completions center for the Gulfstream IV/IV-SP. Its capabilities expanded to aircraft service and maintenance in 1989. From 1989 to 1998, Gulfstream Long Beach underwent several renovations, more than tripling its under-roof space.
