Concorde Going Fast

Tickets Gettting Scarce, Expensive

If you still want to fly supersonic, and you're not willing or able to join the Air Force, you'd better get your check book out... fast.

After next month, the Concordes won't be flying any more; and between now and that last BA SST flight, the seats will get increasingly dear.

We understand there are only four dates that have any seats remaining, and that a one-way ticket is going for around $7100 ($13,500 round trip). There are just a couple hundred opportunities still open.

When the flying is ended, you can line up to buy place settings, pillows and blankets, and even spare parts, right on up to an engine or two. The no-reserve auction should be interesting, for these items. (Head to Christie's, on November 15, to bid on the ultimate Captain's Chair.)

Flight BA001 will leave Heathrow on October 23, and that'll be all for the glorious, unprofitable bird. Air France discontinued its Concorde flights at the end of May.
