Government Contracting A New Business Direction For TSI Aviation

Florida Based Repair Management & Parts Supply Company Enters Federal Arena

TSI Aviation became woman-owned in 2013 when former Vice President Ms. Lee Kapel took over the reins of leadership as President & CEO. Kapel is a rarity in the Aviation market as a woman owner and operator of an aviation focused business and brings three decades of corporate and professional experience. The company specializes in repair management, purchase and exchange of aircraft components serving government and commercial organizations in Central and South America and partnering with firms such as Goodrich, UTC, L3 Communications and Triumph Group.

The TSI team has set new goals and objectives this year to include market expansion. After a rigorous process that includes an in-depth review of the business and a robust submission of corporate information and documentation, TSI has been certified as a Small Minority Women Owned Business (SMWOB) by the U.S. Small Business Administration positioning the company to do business throughout the U.S. Government.

The SMWOB certification opens new doors for the business. Government organizations such as the Department of Defense, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard and others have substantive air fleets with requirements pertinent to TSI capabilities. Additionally, the company is positioned to leverage diversity programs that set aside opportunities for companies owned by minorities, women, veterans and other groups.

TSI has had tremendous success serving the aviation marketplace for over a decade and while it is clear that the new federal market is a significant one, the TSI team recognizes they will have to be diligent and work extremely hard to earn similar recognition with the U.S. Government. "The team is excited and energized about our new market opportunity and we understand that the basic tenets that have contributed to our past success of providing the highest quality, unmatched responsiveness, and overall positive customer experience will be even more important as we head into the future," said Kapel.

TSI says it is already positioning itself for prime contracts and will also be highly sought after for subcontracting opportunities given its reputation in the marketplace. Another interesting opportunity available to TSI is the formal Mentor-Protégé Program that helps small businesses like TSI successfully compete for prime contracts and subcontract awards by partnering with large companies (mentors) under specific project-based agreements.
