Microsoft Flight Sim Reveals Four New Updates

Volocopter, Reno Air Races, And More

Microsoft Flight Simulator shares some exciting updates they have made for the PC and Xbox Series X|S.

World Update VI

The newest world update includes new aerial imagery and high resolution elevation maps and several brand-new 3D cities around Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The visuals will now include the mountain ranges of the Alps with big enhancements coming to these regions. The update will be available for free on September 7th.

Volocopter

Microsoft Flight Simulator is partnering with Volocopter to feature their “VoloCity” eVTOL. This November the collaboration will integrate their electric air taxis and incorporate Volocopter’s vision for urban air mobility city operations into Simulator.

Local Legend I: Junkers JU-52

A Local Legend series is also set to be introduced alongside the World VI update.

For World Update VI, there will be a famous  German plane from 1930 called the Junkers JU-52. The team has gone to great lengths to make this recreation as authentic as possible, consulting with the grandson of the original designer, Bernd Junkers, scanning the entire plane with a digital scanner and working with an organization that preserves one of the last surviving examples of this aircraft. The Junkers JU-52 will be available September 7th for $14.99.

Reno Air Races

The Reno Air races will represent the first major expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator, taking flight this fall.  The partnership with RARA, the Reno Air Racing Association, will bring the STIHL National Championship Air Races to the sim. Many of these planes can fly up to 500 mph between 50ft and 250 ft above ground, and pilots and friends from around the world will be able to race each other.
