Classic Aero-TV At OSH21: Swift Fuel Disperses Unleaded Fuel To California

Swift Fuels CEO, Chris D’Acosta, Talks With ANN At Oshkosh 2021

D’Acosta revealed at Oshkosh that the company’s UL-94 sales have expanded into California. They have been in contact with at least a dozen airports in California, trying to help ease the pressures of public challenges the airports face and get unleaded fuels delivered as soon as possible. After arrival to California, the fuel will be dispersed into two different market hubs.

“We are looking at Northern California, San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Los Angeles County, San Diego County,” he says. “We are pulling out all sorts of stops to get the fuel positioned so that those airports in those communities can start using unleaded fuel.”

“It’s a very challenging state from a regulatory standpoint, we have had to push hard on our own front to make sure that we qualified on all the different things you have to do to be able to do business in California. Now that we have got that all underway, we couldn’t be more excited,” he continues.

“We continue to work on our certification with the FAA,” he continued. “We have been active on that for three and a half years, and we have our sights on what it is going to take to get that done. Our UL-94 is a stepping stone pathway to get to the high octane fuel, the problem with a partial solution is that it’s not implementable; it’s got to be a full solution. UL-94 is vitally important to that strategy, as we move forward,” he notes.

“Pilots and airports get used to UL-94, we are going to slot in the high octane fuel into that space and be able to manage the transition in the most effective way,” D’Acosta concludes.
