Boeing Plants To Face Scheduled FAA Audit

Both Washington State And South Carolina Locations Will Be Examined

The FAA is getting set to perform scheduled audits at Boeing facilities in Washington State and North Carolina. The facilities are audited every two years to assure compliance with Boeing's production certificate.

The North Charleston, SC facility was not included in the most recent audit, which was conducted in 2012, according to a report from the Herald of Everett, WA. The east-coast plant was added to the company's production certificate, PC700, after the audit was completed.

Boeing has hired contractors in South Carolina in an effort to meet increased production goals for the Dreamliner. While the east coast facility still lags behind the Puget Sound factories in airplane production, many analysts say it is only a matter of time before there is parity between the two locations. Candy Eslinger, a Boeing spokeswoman in South Carolina, said there have been some challenges, but she fully expects the North Charleston plant to meet its production goal of 10 planes per month.

There have been 115 Dreamliners delivered to 16 customers so far, and Boeing has orders for a total of 1,030 of the airplanes.
