Universal Avionics' Airborne Datalink System Approved For Falcon 900

Chicago Jet Group FANS Retrofit Meets Eurocontrol Program Mandates

The Dassault Falcon 900 FANS-1A+ (CPDLC Supplemental Type Certification (STC) ST08427CH-T) will be the second aircraft to be certified with a retrofit installation of an Air Traffic Services FANS 1A+ / CPDLC Data Link system over Iridium by Chicago Jet Group, provisioning the aircraft for the upcoming Eurocontrol Link 2000+ Program mandates.

Chicago Jet Group integrated Universal Avionics’ UniLink UL- 801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) with VHF VDL Mode 2 receiver, interfaced with Universal’s SBAS-Flight Management Systems (FMS) and CVR- 120A Cockpit Voice Recorder to enable required FANS data link message recording.

Chicago Jet Group will utilize International Communications Group (ICG) NxtLink ICS-220A Iridium Satcom for Iridium system AOC and ATC data link messaging and communications. Mike Mitera, President of Chicago Jet Group, said “The knowledge we acquired during the certification of the integrated retrofit system on the Falcon 50 has given us the insight to create a cost effective, reliable FANS-1A+/CPDLC solution for the Falcon 900 operators.”

The Dassault Falcon 900 will be the second airframe to receive FANS retrofit certification with CJG. Certification is expected early 1st quarter of 2014. Several additional airframes are currently in-process at Chicago Jet Group for FANS retrofit installation and certification.
