Cockpit Smoke Cuts Comair Flight Short

Passengers Evacuate Plane On Taxiway

Passengers onboard a Comair flight saw their trip from Colorado Springs, CO to Cincinnati, OH end a lot sooner than planned Tuesday, after they were forced to evacuate their aircraft on a taxiway at COS.

KDVR-13 reports 60 passengers and four crewmembers onboard Flight 6560 bailed out of the regional jet as a precaution, after the pilots detected smoke in the cockpit while taxiing for departure.

Comair spokeswoman Kate Marx said no one was injured during the evacuation, and passengers were rebooked on later flights.

The cause of the smoke was not immediately known... and, apparently, could not be duplicated. Marx said the plane has been cleared to reenter service following an inspection.

Airport operations were not disrupted, according to the television station.
