Air Force: F-35A Will Skip Farnborough Air Show

Marine Corps Variant Will Be On Display At U.K. Event

The U.S. Air Force has announced that the F-35A will not be on display at the Farnborough Air Show early next month, though the U.S. Marines will send a pair of F-35B aircraft to the event.

Both types will be on display at the Royal International Air Tattoo early in July, but because of a lack of hangar space, the F-35As will return to the U.S. after the RIAT, according to a report appearing on Defense News online.

Air Force spokesman Capt. Mark Graff said that the F-35 program will be "well represented ... by the Marine Corps and our F-35 program industry partners."

The Marine Corps had planned to take an F-35B to Farnborough in 2014, but an engine fire aboard an F-35A grounded the entire fleet before that show took place.
