Fokker Elmo Wins 2010 Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Award Of Excellence

Unique Wiring System, Outstanding Performance In F-35 Program Cited By LM

Fokker Elmo was awarded the 2010 F-35 Lightning II Award of Excellence by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics for its outstanding performance in the development and manufacturing of the electrical wiring system for the next generation fighter.

During the May 12th Lockheed Martin Supplier Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, Fokker Elmo received the 2010 F-35 Lighting II Award of Excellence for both its performance and proactive approach to the development and production of the F-35 wiring system. Fokker Elmo was selected for this award out of 600 suppliers. In his award speech, Dan Crowley, Lockheed Martin executive vice president and general manager of the F-35 program, emphasized the overall performance of Fokker Elmo saying, "This award acknowledges Fokker Elmo's commitment to quality and innovation and signifies its long standing vision to be the provider of a total integrated wiring solution for F-35 program."

While the development activities in Hoogerheide and Lockheed Martin's main location in Fort Worth, Texas, are nearing their conclusion, series production is rapidly ramping up in Fokker Elmo's production facilities in the Netherlands and in Turkey. Lockheed Martin and Fokker Elmo signed a memorandum of agreement for the F-35 wiring system two years ago with the condition to use Fokker Elmo's Wiring Design & Manufacturing System (WDMS). This unique system safeguards the configuration of the aircraft wiring and enables online change incorporation. The WDMS is also a highly efficient manufacturing tool which significantly reduces overall costs.

"We are very pleased with the success of our growing partnership with Lockheed Martin, said Rob Hermans, Fokker Elmo F-35 Program Director. "We are especially proud that Lockheed Martin recognized our innovative approach in the WDMS which enabled our successful cooperation in the F-35 program."
