More Charges In Cosmosphere Investigation

Former Museum Director Max Ary Faces Eight New Allegations

Criminal charges are piling up on the man who once ran the Kansas Cosmosphere & Space Center. Max Ary is now accused not only of stealing and selling museum artifacts, but of wire fraud and money laundering.

In all, a federal grand jury in Wichita, KS, indicted Ary on eight charges Wednesday, adding to the eleven he already faced.

Ary helped create the museum more than 25-years ago. He left his job and Wichita in 2002, moving to Oklahoma City, OK, where he's now the executive director of the Kirkpatrick Science and Air Space Museum. Court records obtained by the Wichita Eagle show his home there was searched in December, 2003 -- investigators saying they found items like an instrument dial from Apollo 11's command module, gold foil from the command module on Apollo 8, along with other materials like charts and medallions.

Ary, 55, says he's not guilty and wants a speedy trial to clear his name.
