Iraqi General Fatally Injured In F-16 Accident

Plane Went Down Last Week In Arizona During Training

The government of Iraq has confirmed that Brig General Rafid Mohammed Hassan was fatally injured when the F-16 he was flying during a training mission went down southeast of Tucson, AZ.

Gen. Hassan was the only person on board the aircraft according to a report from Tuscon.com. The plane went down about five miles east of Douglas Municipal Airport, according to the report.

Gen. Hassan was participating in a night training mission with the 162nd wing of the Arizona Air National Guard.

Iraq is slated to get its first F-16s and spare parts which the government says would be put to use immediately against ISIS. Part of the deal of for the U.S. to train Iraqi pilots to fly the airplanes.
