Three Lost In Wisconsin Meridian Accident

Plane Impacts Backyard Of Marshfield Home

A new Piper PA46-500TP Mirage Meridian impacted the backyard of a Marshfield, WI home Saturday night, claiming the lives of all three people onboard.

Mike Meyers, a spokesman for Marshfield Municipal Airport (MFI), told the Associated Press officials think the plane was on approach to land when it crashed. The accident site is just northwest of the approach end to runway 34 at the airport.

Further details of the accident are sketchy at this time. No flight plan was filed, and the flight's origination point was unreported. Conditions were clear at the time of the accident.

First responders to the scene had difficulty in identifying the aircraft that crashed, as its N-numbers were burned beyond recognition in a post-impact fire. NTSB officials positively identified the accident aircraft Sunday.

Authorities have not released the names of those onboard, but an email from Green Bay Junior Gamblers hockey team said team president James Edwards and his two sons, James Jr. and Joshua, were onboard the aircraft.

WFRV-5 in Green Bay reports Clifford Watson, vice president of the hockey team, said Edwards often flew his sons in from Marshfield for hockey practice. One of the boys was also a member of the team.

No one inside the home was injured in the crash. Neighbors say the residents were away when the plane came down.

FAA records show the accident aircraft, N67TE (similar to type shown above), received its airworthiness certificate in late July, and was registered with owner TES Leasing LLC of Marshfield on October 10.
