House Aviation Subcommittee Will Hold Roundtable On Modernizing NAS

Meeting Wednesday Is Open To The Public

The U.S. House Subcommittee on Aviation, chaired by U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) (pictured), will hold a roundtable policy discussion on Wednesday to examine the issues related to modernizing and improving the efficiency of the United States air traffic control (ATC) system.

One of the Committee’s highest priorities this year is an FAA reauthorization that helps ensure ATC modernization and lays the groundwork for the future of the U.S. aviation system.  Roundtable participants will include representatives of the Department of Transportation Office of the Inspector General, National Air Traffic Controllers Association, Honeywell, Airlines for America, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and Reason Foundation.

The roundtable, entitled “Issues Regarding Modernizing and Operating the Nation’s Airspace System,” is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

Invited to participate are:

  • Matthew Hampton - Assistant Inspector General for Aviation Audits, Office of Inspector General, Department of Transportation;
  • Sharon Pinkerton - Senior Vice President, Legislative and Regulatory Policy, Airlines for America;
  • Mark Baker - President and CEO, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association;
  • Chris Benich - Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Honeywell;
  • Trish Gilbert - Executive Vice President, National Air Traffic Controllers Association; and
  • Robert Poole - Searle Freedom Trust Transportation Fellow and Director of Transportation Policy, Reason Foundation.

The roundtable is open to the public but will not be webcast.
