Piston Twin Engine & Fuel Instrument Retrofit
Xerion Avionix, makers
of the AuRACLE Engine Management System, has disclosed details of
the CRM 2120, a digital engine management system upgrade for
general aviation piston twins. The CRM 2120 replaces an
aircraft’s existing array of engine and fuel gauges with one
primary integrated system that significantly reduces pilot workload
and enhances safety.
“The CRM 2120 will become the primary engine and fuel
instrumentation for the legacy twin engine fleet,” says Eric
Hathaway, Xerion vice president of sales. “This is the first
time that twin engine pilots have had the choice of replacing their
old steam gauges.”
Engine and fuel data from both engines appears on two 5-inch
sunlight readable LCD screens. Operation info such as MP, RPM and
fuel flows are displayed on the upper screen, along with critical
engine parameters, including CHT, EGT and TIT. The lower screen
displays fuel and oil status, percentage of horsepower, OAT and
more. The CRM 2120 is manufactured to military specifications with
a single remote engine interface penetrating the firewall in each
nacelle.
Xerion Avionix introduced the AuRACLE Engine Management
System for single engine aircraft last year. Xerion is
currently shipping the AuRACLE for all models of the Beechcraft
Bonanza. Field installations on all Cessna and Piper singles begin
in June.
The CRM 2120 will be TSO’d and STC’d for a long list
of twin-engine aircraft, including Pipers, the Beechcraft Baron and
300-400 series Cessnas. Final certification of the CRM2120 is
expected this fall, and Xerion is offering substantial discounts
for pilots and aircraft operators who order during the current
promotional period.
