Whelen Engineering To Acquire Lopresti Aviation

Alliance Positions Both Companies To Boost Competitiveness And Better Serve Customers In An Era Of Rapid Change Within The Industry

Whelen Engineering Company has completed an acquisition and spin-off of its Aviation Division with LoPresti Aviation. Whelen’s Aviation Division and LoPresti are both global leaders in the aviation lighting market and will be combined into a single organization named Whelen Aerospace Technologies, or WAT.

LoPresti Aviation is an aviation performance solutions company, founded in Sebastian, Florida in 1991. It has grown to become an industry-recognized leader in aviation lighting, as well as in aircraft speed modifications. The company has a diversified portfolio of top-tier customers and holds over 500 FAA STCs.

Founded in 1952, Whelen Engineering designs and manufactures reliable and powerful warning lights, white illumination lighting, sirens, controllers, and high-powered warning systems for Automotive, Aviation, and Mass Notification industries worldwide.

The acquisition of LoPresti will give Whelen a strong platform to continue developing innovative aviation lighting on a global scale. Whelen’s Aviation Division and LoPresti together create a major competitor within the market. WAT encompasses the strengths of both companies to design, engineer, and manufacture a diversified and innovative product line for customers.

“WAT enables both companies to combine resources and deliver distinct technologies to the market,” says Whelen President and CEO George Whelen. “This transaction allows us to harness our collective resources, innovation capabilities, and market positions to even better serve the industry globally.”

“Through WAT, we will strengthen our portfolio in aircraft lighting applications and composite structures. This acquisition will be highly beneficial to OEMs, as well as to the end user” said Tyler Wheeler, LoPresti Aviation CEO. “Maintaining the highest level of customer service is the highest priority for us as we continue growing as one.” Tyler will join Whelen Aerospace Technologies as CEO.
