Westchester County Airport To Begin Runway Repairs On Monday, April 27

Takes Action Now Due To Lessened Activity

Due to the extreme downturn in aviation activity at Westchester County Airport, the airport will begin construction on Monday, April 27, 2020 on the Airport’s primary runway, as well as a portion that connects both runways.

The main runway, 16/34, will close for construction beginning on Monday, April 27 through May 21, and the intersection that connects both runways will be closed from April 29 through May 5, 2020.

The decision to close the runways for an extended period of time was made in an effort to reduce construction impact on flights activity when Westchester County Airport operations return to normal.

By completing construction and repaving during an Airport closure, the need for the installation and removal of temporary runway pavement to continue daily airport operations will be eliminated.

Westchester County Airport (HPN) is presently served by six scheduled passenger airlines. The Westchester County Airport is owned by the County of Westchester in the State of New York. The airport is located in the Towns of Harrison and North Castle and the Village of Rye Brook, New York. The airport is managed by the private operator AvPorts an AFCO affiliate.
