Austrian Carrier To Purchase BAe 146QT Freighter

Amerer Air Will Be First Customer For Relaunched Aircraft

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft announced recently Austrian all-cargo airline Amerer Air plans to be the first customer for the re-launched BAe 146 QT (Quiet Trader) freighter program.

The aircraft to be purchased by Amerer Air will be the first BAe 146QT conversion, a Series 200 (msn E2099). It was converted recently at Aerostar in Bacau, Romania and made its first flight as a freighter to Southend, UK on June 25. There it has been painted and is now undergoing final maintenance checks before delivery.

After delivery, the aircraft will be ferried to Amerer Air's base at Linz in Austria before entering service. It is scheduled to be operated on behalf of the major integrator companies, as well as on ad hoc freight charter work.

Amerer Air has created a major logistics center at its Linz base. The airline currently operates one Fokker F27-500 six-tonne freighter which is used to serve major freight forwarders, express cargo companies, private shippers, integrators and governments.

In addition, Amerer Air has built up since 1999 a substantial long-distance international truck transportation business as a supplement to the air freight sector and has a fleet of trucks and large container vehicles. The airline also has a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) 145-approved maintenance operation and a flight deck and ground personnel training centre.
