Phoenix to Host FSANA Designated Pilot Examiners Symposium

October Event Seeks to Improve Airman Practical Testing

Established in 2009, the Flight School Association of North America (FSANA) is a trade association that serves fight-training providers and the wider aerospace industry by developing, improving, and standardizing pilot didactic and practical training programs for the laudable purpose of increasing the world’s pilot population. In furtherance of its stated mission, the FSANA will host the 2nd Annual Designated Pilot Examiners Symposium on 11 & 12 October in Phoenix, Arizona.

Pilot examiners—as anyone who’s ever sweated out a check-ride knows—play a critical role in the pilot supply chain, and personify the final and most harrowing instance of every meaningful stage of an airman’s career path. The symposium seeks to bring together designated pilot examiners (DPEs) along with those interested in becoming DPEs, flight schools, government officials, and other aerospace stakeholders to exchange information conducive to improving the practical testing of airmen. Notwithstanding the unavoidable participation of FAA officials, the symposium stands to greatly benefit the whole of the aerospace community.

The event is scheduled to get underway Tuesday, 11 October at 10:00 MDT,  splitting between a warm-up session for those wanting to become DPEs and a Plans of Action workshop for the balance of attendees. The symposium is expressly intended for current DPEs, parties interested in becoming a DPEs, flight school operators, and chief flight instructors.

Registration fees include entry to professional sessions and workshops; Tuesday and Wednesday sessions; opening reception and dinner; one luncheon and beverage breaks. The complete event program and registration form can be found at the FSANA website. Completed forms may be submitted by email, fax, or USPS.

The broader mission of the Flight School Association of North America is to support, promote, and advocate for the business of flight-training; to provide knowledge, programs, and services helpful to FSANA member organizations and their customers; to educate and inspire youth; to improve general aviation safety; and to increase the global pilot population.
