Mustangs And Mustangs On Display

Three Day Show Ends Sunday

The eighth annual Mustangs and Mustangs Car and Vintage Airplane Show ends Sunday at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, FL. More than 270 cars are on display along with P-51 Mustang Fighters.

The annual show provides an opportunity for car owners to show off and compete, along with the chance to see some of America's classic war birds. The P-51 is one of the most recognized World War II aircraft. They were able to escort bombers farther than earlier fighters and helped them to reach their targets.

"They don't represent war, but they represent people saying 'I'm going to do something about this.' They bellied up to the challenge," said K.T. Budde-Jones to the Sentinel. He is one of the event's organizers at Fantasy of Flight, a museum with more than 70 vintage aircraft on display.

About 140 Mustangs are still flying. War bird groups are passionate about preserving the history and the heritage of these aircraft and the men who flew them in defense of our country.
