Charlotte-Douglas Board Votes For Wilson

Company Would Run GA Fueling And Maintenance Ops

If the Charlotte-Douglas Airport Advisory Committee has its way, things are going to change on the GA side of the field. Tuesday, committee members recommended to the city council that Wilson Air Center of Memphis (TN) be awarded the contract for maintenance and fueling.

"I think the selection committee came to the right conclusion" in picking Wilson, said Aviation Director Jerry Orr in an interview with the Charlotte Business Journal.

For the past dozen years, Signature Flight Services of Orlando (FL) had the contract. Its contract expired at the end of June. While Signature was one of the 12 bidders for the new contract, advisory committee members decided to go with Wilson.

Owned by the family of Holiday Inn magnate Kemmons Wilson, Wilson Flight Services has been ranked among the top FBOs in the country for the past five years.
