Pratt & Whitney To Provide Lufthansa With PurePower Engines For 30 A320neos

Deliveries Scheduled To Begin In 2019

Lufthansa has selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines for an additional 30 A320neo family aircraft. This order will bring the total number of PW1100G-JM engine-powered aircraft in Lufthansa's fleet to 60. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2019 and continue through 2021.

Lufthansa previously selected Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM engines in 2011 for its order of 30 A320neo family aircraft with deliveries starting in 2015.

"We are very pleased with the testing to date on the Geared TurboFan engine family," said Nico Buchholz, executive vice president, Lufthansa Group Fleet Management. "Our early A320 NEO deliveries will benefit from the technologies in this engine providing us with significant improvements in overall environmental performance and operating cost."

"We are honored that Lufthansa has chosen PurePower engines for these A320neo family aircraft," said Dave Brantner, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. "Pratt & Whitney has completed more than 8,000 hours of testing across the PurePower engine family, including more than 900 hours of flight testing. The Geared TurboFan engine will deliver double-digit improvements in fuel efficiency, environmental emissions and noise."

To date, the PurePower engine family has more than 5,300 orders and commitments, including options, from more than 50 global customers.
