Sikorsky Selects TrueNorth Simphone For Forward-Fit S-76 Installations

System To Be Offered On S-76C++ and S-76D, Under Consideration For S-92s

TrueNorth Avionics, Inc., has been selected by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation to supply its advanced executive-class Simphone airborne telecommunications system for the S-76 helicopter, starting with two installations this summer at Keystone Helicopter in Coatesville, PA.

A single-LRU system that let operators manage all their airborne communications -- Satcom, fax, broadband data, cabin intercom -- through an ultra-quiet, easy-to-use menu-driven handset, the Simphone system also features a "one touch" dialer for direct interface to the helicopter’s cockpit ICS systems.

With its all-digital PBX and two channels of built-in, dual-channel worldwide Iridium Satcom, future-proof architecture, dual CEPT-E1 network interfaces and full executive customization, including self-programming personalized handsets, personalized screens and ringtones, and personalized configuration module, the Simphone system gives operators an unprecedented array of executive capability, convenience and options.

"We’re impressed with TrueNorth’s responsiveness in adapting the Simphone for the S-76," said Sikorsky’s Tom Schmidt-Lange. "The innovative one-touch pilot calling is an especially nice feature."

"From TrueNorth’s point of view, we’re gratified that Sikorsky has recognized the benefits of offering the Simphone system," said Mark van Berkel, TrueNorth’s CEO. "As the premier manufacturer of executive-class helicopters, Sikorsky knows what their customers want, determining that our executive-class telephone system is an excellent fit for all their communications needs," he added.

Based in Ottawa, Canada, TrueNorth Avionics develops integrated communications solutions for business aviation. Its premier product, the Simphone (pronounced 'Symphony') is an executive-class airborne telephone system.
