Mooney Announces Participation At Sun ‘n Fun 2018

Legendary Aircraft Manufacturer Celebrates 70 Years Of Innovation

Renowned aircraft manufacturer Mooney International is kicking off the 2018 airshow season in a big way – bringing to Sun ‘n Fun not only the world’s newest and fastest piston singles – the Ovation and Acclaim Ultras – but also a brand new outdoor display that includes a Mooney Mite to highlight the company’s 70 years of innovation.

“This is the culmination of a lot of work over the winter by our entire team in Kerrville,” said Lance Phillips, director of marketing at Mooney International.  “Best news of all, of course, is deliveries of the new Ovation and Acclaim Ultras are being made as planned –  with seven deliveries so far in 2018,” he continued. “And our dealers now have demonstrators in hand which means more and more people are finding out what incredible airplanes the new Ultras really are. In fact, during the show here in Florida, we have a new Ovation Ultra positioned over at Plant City for demonstration flights, just so pilots can experience the new Ultras for themselves.”

Also new for Sun ‘n Fun this year is an impressive outdoor display that features an enhanced hospitality for guests, a landscaped display area for aircraft, and a special upper deck for viewing the airshow itself. The display area will include two new Acclaim Ultras at Sun ‘n Fun this year, as well as a very special visitor: A pristine, fully-airworthy Mooney M-18 Mite. “The Mite was one of the first of Al Mooney’s legendary designs to be FAA-certified,” explained Mr. Phillips – and on this our 70th year, we’re celebrating the spirit of innovation it heralded at the company some seventy years ago – a spirit that very much continues today as we continue to evolve our aircraft to meet customer needs.”

As a testament to the forward thinking that has always been a hallmark of every Mooney – some of the innovations Al Mooney brought to that initial design are still evident in the very latest aircraft from the company: The 2018 M20U Ovation Ultra and the M20V Acclaim Ultra – both of which feature technology and creature comforts that make them the most desirable piston-singles available today, not to mention the Acclaim Ultra’s ability to cruise at 242 knots.

In addition to the aircraft on display, Mooney will also be hosting customers at three unique rooftop events at their exhibit during this year’s show. Personal invitations are distributed through the Mooney sales personnel on-site, and the upper deck display area promises to provide guests with the best view ever of the airshow itself.

“Sun ‘n Fun marks the start of what promises to be our best year ever” said Jeff Magnus, director of sales for Mooney International. “And, as someone who has flown virtually every new single-engine aircraft on the market today – the new Ultras, along with our dealer and service center support network we’ve put behind them, make for an absolutely unbeatable combination. Our hope is to get as many folks as we can to not only come see our new airplanes – but to join us in flying them – and flying fast.”
